Beneath the massive sweep of the 134 freeway overpass, this urban oasis feels like a hidden pocket of calm, the air cool and shaded even in the heat of the day. The Arroyo threads through the rocks and trees in the distance, its quiet murmur mixing with the distant hum of traffic overhead. In spring and early summer, wildflowers press against concrete pillars painted with layers of bright graffiti, turning the gray supports into accidental art. It’s an oddly serene place, where nature and the city lean into each other and make something unexpectedly beautiful.
Hint: Low foliage near a south-angled tree.
